Today I had to go shopping to get some more beading supplies and some fabric for some custom orders.  I found this cool new bead shop called Red and Green Gems in Lakewood, CO.   They had tons of great stones, tumbled, semi precious, gems, etc, etc.  They drilled some holes in rocks for me, which was great, ...but it was kinda expensive. at $6 per hole!  But the stones were reasonably priced and they had a lot of variety.
The last time I went to my regular gem shop, they were out of sterling silver earring hooks...and this new place didnt have any either!  Grrr.  I looked at another craft store for them and still didnt find any?!?  Why is that so hard.  I never did get the fabric I needed....I couldnt make a decision...geez.
Josh and I then went to JCPenneys, since I needed more work clothes.  I was able to get a few things...but the highlight of the day was noticing a pet store right outside of penneys, and we spent probably 1.5 hours in there looking at and holding puppies~!!  They had tons of puppies, probably about 50, I would say!  They are all purebred, which is not necessarially our taste, but they sure were cute!  though, I think going to the "pound" and getting a puppy is the better way to go   But they sure were cute!!!!
Rock would be so upset with us...lol

I bought Josh some woodworking books a while back, and he finally used one to make something :)  (not that he hasnt been busy working on our house/yard/etc).
I had thought maybe it would be cool for him to make some wooden boxes while he is at home not working...maybe he would enjoy it.  So he made his first one out of some wood we had in the yard.  I think the next one will be smaller, and then we will sand and paint it.
Would this be something you would buy?  Gift?  Like a box for your seed packets?  Or cards, or jewelry or ....
Here are some pics.

Obviously the wood isn't the best in this photo, and its not painted...but You get the idea :)

Its been so long since I have updated, I am going to try to get back into blogging.  Even just a little bit each week.

For a brief update to 2009;
Josh lost his job at the end of February, and has been unable to find another job :(
Its been a rough time for us, but we are getting lots done on the house, the yard, all those projects we have.  That's defintaly the up-side to all of this, the basement ceiling is nearly done, we will get the final inspection soon, then there will be lots, and lots of trimwork to do.  He poured a concrete patio out back, with more work to still do on that one, built a rock wall in the front yard, cleaned up the yard a lot, got the garden started (well, i did that mostly), and lots more!  He is still looking hard for an entry level IT job..so if you have any leads in the Denver area, please contact me!!!

I have been sewing, making jewelry, headbands, and lots more this winter and spring!  More and more I look forward to making my part time business a full time life, but for now, I just forge onward.  I am trying to market myself better...and I desperately need my website re-done.  I need better meta tags and stuff like that, which I know nothing about :)  (and dont enjoy)  So if anyone is really goos at that...contact me for a trade?!?!

Of course spring means planting!  And I seeded our whole yard this whole winter, and it paid off, there is a big patch of green grass out there!  It looks sooo nice!!!  My garden is looking good, I have onions, lettuce and peas already up.  I just planted in the past week cucumber, beans, carrots, and will plant more soon.
I made herb garden planters with lavender, basil, chives, dill, parsley, and oregano.  I hope they do well, this is the first time I have tried doing this...!?!?  Any pointers out there?

I also have a terrible cold that is driving me nuts, and I cant stop coughing, whine whine.  he he.

Here are some Christmas gifts I can post on here.  I am pretty sure the people they are for will not check out this blog :)

I made 2 reversible table runners.  One side has Christmas holly with shiny gold thread appliqueing holly berries and leaves in the center of the runner.  The opposite side has snowmen (my godmother collects non-christmasy snowmen or snowwomen for the wintertime).
I added beads to each end instead of tassels.  The beads are attached on a button, and can come off the button to put the runner in the wash!  I think they turned out pretty good!

Large Table Runner Snow-people side

Large Table Runner Holly

Small Table Runner

Applique, much better in person

Side 2, sorry for the sideways pics

I think somehow our Christmas pics got deleted : (     such a bummer.......unless they are stored somewhere on the external hard drive, but when I downloaded the memory cards, they were blank!  Unless josh maybe downloaded them and put them somewhere impossible to find.......then they are gone.  boo!
So if anyone has any good pics, I would really like them!

Currently life has gotten back to normal, sorta.  Josh started school this week, he has 2 classes; statistics, and some other one that I cant remember, haha.  He is thinking that the stats class will be hard, lots of work...Josh's degree program is a Bachelors of Arts in Technology.  Yes, of arts....weird huh?  so his classes aren't necessarialy math problems in his stats class, but projects applying statistics to things.  He would just rather math problems, i think...so it will be different, but I hope to see that the class really applies the stats to specific problems one would face in a technology (IT type) job.....we shall see.

Got some results on my back recently, I have a degenerating disc in my back, which is causing most of the problems....well, its settin off a chain reaction of problems to my muscles, and other discs, who are supporting this bad one.  basically I go to a physiotherapist and see what they recommend, hard core PT is what I think will happen.  I guess thats way better than surg!  I need to make an appointment with them, and hope to on Monday.

I still need to post some pics of the basement...but I haven't gotten to that yet.  I hope to tomorrow, since Josh is skiing (and i am too worried about falling and hurting my back, but  I hope after a year of physiotherapy....next year....) Our friend Joe is buying one of our tickets, we purchase them in August they are way cheaper, so we have to use them up!

I am working on a line of clothing which is more low cost for the customers.  I hope to be doing less work on an item, less time, and to make it simpler and sell it for less.  We will see if it catches on...my pencil skirt for $28 sold pretty quick......so maybe..........

FINALLY!  This diaper bag is done, and we have pictures, and its getting packed up and on its way!  YAY!  I have been working on it for some time now, little by little.  My customer didn't "need" it right away, and it was a tough applique, so I was able to take my time.  This is one of the most detailed pieces I have done.

Applique, 3 Dancin' Dead bears and a Terrapin sitting on the moon, playing banjo!  I liked making the banjo!  I think it turned out purdy good:)

Bag, with stuff in it.  Hangs nicely with an adjustable strap.  The strap is really thick, so it won't "dig in" to your shoulder, even with a tank top on!  (I checked to make sure)

Big patchwork pocket on the inside, great for keys, cell phone, wallet, necessities!  The rest is for baby, right?  LOL

Diaper bag, back.  simple, grey cord.  2 patchwork pockets on either side, great for a bottle, water bottle, or anything else ya need!

So, let me know what you think?!  It sure was a lot of work, and I am so proud of the accomplishment.

Boy, am I glad to be home today, I have so many things to work on.  I am ready to post some new items on my website, I made 2 pairs of patchwork pants, and 1 skirt.  I have lots of jeans that don't fit me, or I don't like anymore, most are barely worn, so I made one of those pairs into Harvest PAnts!  They are dark blue jean, with fall colors of patchwork running down the sides, and a gourd with a vine growing around the leg.
The second pair of pants are plus sized, probably a size 16-18-20.  THey are from tan corduroy that i actually bought for a custom order, but then realized there was a stain on them.........so I had to buy another pair for the custom.  I added a bamboo applique on the leg covering the small stain...they are a little worn though, and I will charge a little less for them.
The skirt is also a recycled jean skirt, A-line, which i got from Goodwill thinking it would fit me............well, it didnt.........so i appliqued a rainbow on the front, added pockets and will put that on the site.
Then when we went to goodwill yesterday, looking for a basket for all my yarn, and in the craft section there was a bag of velviteen/velous strips of fabric, braided.  Immediately I thought these would be great for dog leashes, and bought them up!  I have rebraided some of them, to make them stronger, and I am hoping that josh will add the clamps to them tonight.??

I also have a bunch of other things I have been trying to get done; a baby sleeping bag thingy for my pregnant sister in law Miranda,  i Need to make soap and send a package to our friends Ivan and Selina (see California post, Morrow Bay).  I bought some beautiful beads in Morow Bay and made Selina a necklace already....just need to make soap and get the package out.  I also want to make a hat for a friends baby who is due very soon, its going to be a girl, but I am sure she has gotten many, many, pink girlie things and probably a pink hat.  so since she is due in October, i am going to make a little pumpkin hat.  I need to get started on that.    I finished Miranda's baby's  hat yesterday night...when i couldnt sleep........i was up until about 2am knitting.  She is having a shower on October 6th, and I am hoping to get her gifts to her by then.  Hoping hoping...not sure.

Whew!  Well, off to take a jog with Rock.,
We are dog-sitting a freinds dog Hershey.  She is a little crazy on the leash, and I am going to test my new leashes on her.
She puked last night, which sucked.  WE have hardly given her any treats, or anything other than her food as instructed.  Oddly, shortly before she threw-up I was thinking, "hershey has probably never had this FEW treats in her life"  maybe that was the problem.  she seems fine today though.
I cant clean it up, puke is NOT something i can handle.....I am afraid Josh will be the better parent when children are sick, at least that way.   I will beg to NOT Stay home from work iwth them.  lol
