Here are some pics of our garden.  I weeded AFTER I took the pics, so it looks much better than it does below :)  I also planted another row of carrots, beans, and more herbs today.

Lettuce at the top, then peas, then onion.  The pics dont do it justice :)

Little Cucumbers and little green beans just popping up!

Some GREEN grass in our yard!!!  The key, seed in the winter, apparently :)

Its been so long since I have updated, I am going to try to get back into blogging.  Even just a little bit each week.

For a brief update to 2009;
Josh lost his job at the end of February, and has been unable to find another job :(
Its been a rough time for us, but we are getting lots done on the house, the yard, all those projects we have.  That's defintaly the up-side to all of this, the basement ceiling is nearly done, we will get the final inspection soon, then there will be lots, and lots of trimwork to do.  He poured a concrete patio out back, with more work to still do on that one, built a rock wall in the front yard, cleaned up the yard a lot, got the garden started (well, i did that mostly), and lots more!  He is still looking hard for an entry level IT job..so if you have any leads in the Denver area, please contact me!!!

I have been sewing, making jewelry, headbands, and lots more this winter and spring!  More and more I look forward to making my part time business a full time life, but for now, I just forge onward.  I am trying to market myself better...and I desperately need my website re-done.  I need better meta tags and stuff like that, which I know nothing about :)  (and dont enjoy)  So if anyone is really goos at that...contact me for a trade?!?!

Of course spring means planting!  And I seeded our whole yard this whole winter, and it paid off, there is a big patch of green grass out there!  It looks sooo nice!!!  My garden is looking good, I have onions, lettuce and peas already up.  I just planted in the past week cucumber, beans, carrots, and will plant more soon.
I made herb garden planters with lavender, basil, chives, dill, parsley, and oregano.  I hope they do well, this is the first time I have tried doing this...!?!?  Any pointers out there?

I also have a terrible cold that is driving me nuts, and I cant stop coughing, whine whine.  he he.

I am home today, by myself alllll day!  Josh is at work, then has class until 10pm tonight, so it's just me and the 2 dogs.  (we are dogsitting Hershey).

Hershey is on the left, Rock on the right....They look pretty cute huh?  They sure are!  And Hershey doesn't look like it, but is a total terror on the leash, she pulls like crazy!  So she was able to test all my new leashes out, and they passed without even a small stretch!  I will post those later.

Today, I got up and made a bunch of soap, before my 11am appointment at the dentist.  I had to get a cavity filled, I havent had a cavity since college.  Most of the soap I needed to make is finished, I used shea butter this time, its very soft and the soap changes shape easily with a little pressure.  When i was attaching my tags, the hemp just being tied onto the soap made an indent.  I will have to be more careful next time I wrap the shea soaps.  I had wanted to make more, but after coming home from the dentist, I didn't feel like making anymore.  Its been 2 hours since the numbing, and my mouth is still REALLY numb...and I am starving, so I will try to eat some pizza.  This should be comical.

I wanted to post a 2005 house photo, and a 2007 photo to show how much the trees have grown in the front yard.  And how much work we have done........but i'll bet you cant tell that, lol!

Here is house 2005, notice all the bushes all over the place.  The Maple tree looks really small and had a big huge dead branch coming out of the top.  The pine trees to the left of the photo are much smaller too!

The grass is not looking too great...it was better earlier in the summer.  The maple is loosing her leaves, so she looks smaller than she really is...And you can definately tell the pine trees are growing!

A couple of months ago, I decided to ask if I could work part time, 32 hours per week.  Suprisingly, my boss agreed, and my hours were dropped to 32, yay!!!!  SO typically I have Thursdays off, which is not my first choice for the day, but I am still glowing from not working 5 days per week!!!
My thursday is for sewing, crafting, and working on my website...so I am trying to do that today!  I hope to post a batch of threads this weekend, 1 new dress, 3 new tops, and maybe an apron skirt and petticoat.  The website has been slow lately, and I am not sure why.  I used to get 100 hits per day, now i only get about 40-50, and I am not sure what changed....the 40 hits is UP from about 20 at one point.  I am not sure what to do.  My site doesnt come up when you are looking on google or yahoo until WAY down the list.  How do you change that?  I surely dont know.

On another note, we ended up putting pesticides in the garden to get the earwigs OUT OF MY VEGGIES!  I was sooooooooooo pissed when I found them eating my corn on the cob!  So we bought something you sprinkle on the ground, the bugs leave the veggies, and get the poision.  It has worked so far.  yay!  we harvested about 10 ears of corn yesterday, now today I need to freeze it....hmm, thats not sewing is it?! lol
Next year we will have to move the garden anyway, its too near the side of the house which has water leakage problems, so our sump pump has been on.  I am not sure where we will put it next year...but I hope its away from the bugS!

We came home to a garden which had bloomed a LOT since we had seen it last!  Here are some photos of our hard yardwork!

Beautiful Sunflowers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I love them!!!!!!!

So Purdy!
~~~~~~~~`
Our mutant cucumbers!  I dont know what happened but they are all weird shapes, such as this.  Some are even round!  They aren't as good as they were last year b/c they get seedy early.  Any ideas how this could have happened???
~~~~~~~

Our garden!  Here are some more sunflowers.  The ones up on the hill catch full sun, and are much taller than the other sunflowers.  Our corn is doing really well!  However, in the past week, we have been getting lots and lots of bugs, I checked the corn and earwigs were in the corn!  I was mad!  So we relented and went to get some pesticide, though I was reluctant to do something non-organic.  We asked at the locally owned garden store, and they gave us something that is bait, it baits the bugs out of the plants, then kills them.  nice.  I felt bad doing it, does anyone know of any organic pesticide we could try next time?

WE have lots of pumpkins!   They are already orange since this picture was taken.  Do we have to pick them when they are orange, or can we let them get bigger?  hmm?

I will be posting some pics of the house in the near future too.
